Mileage Allowances

Standard mileage rate increased on July 1, 2008. Business mileage rates are now 58.5 cents per mile.

It is important to maintain an accurate and detailed mileage log. It should contain the date, business purpose, beginning and ending mileage, and an odometer reading on January first and December 31, 2008. This year it is even more important to have exact numbers for the first half of the year and the last half of the year due to the multiple rates for mileage in 2008. Business Miles Rates
January 1, 2008 - June 30, 2008 = 50.5 cents per mile
July 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008 = 58.5 cents per mile

Medical Miles Rates
19 cents per mile

Charitable Miles Rates
14 cents per mile
